WEDDING DRESS SHOPPING ANXIETIES & HOW TO OVERCOME THEM.
Today we’re tackling a subject that we believe resonates with many brides and we hope we can offer you some guidance here at Jill Jones Bridal. Shopping for your wedding dress may be something you’re reluctant to do and you might even find that you’re putting it at the bottom of your to-do-list. The experience can put a lot of pressure on brides, so we’re here to offer our expert advice on how you can overcome the most common wedding dress shopping anxieties. If you’re stressing about shopping for your wedding dress before you’ve even stepped through the studio, this is an absolute-must read!
Social Media Pressures.
There’s no doubt about it, social media instantly puts pressure on brides, whether that’s Instagram, Pinterest, Facebook or the latest platform that has hit the wedding scene. We totally get it – all you see is sun-kissed models that have been heavily filtered, set against the most jaw-dropping of backdrops. While you may have saved hundreds of wedding dresses to your boards or you’ve screen-shotted tonnes of insta posts, it’s so important to remember that social media isn’t real. For that reason, we advise using social media as a research tool – but that’s it. Use it to inspire and offer ideas, but don’t use it as something to aim for. You are more than enough already!
Sample Sizing Woes
Here at Jill Jones Bridal, we love that every bride that walks through the doors is a different shape and size to the one before and we utterly embrace this. Which is why we stock a range of sample sizes, so you really will be spoilt for choice! Ahead of your appointment, we’ll have a catch-up about what you can expect from your JJB experience and we can discuss sizing options so that it’s not a worry when you arrive. We want you to look forward to your appointment, not dread it and we’re here to make sure you love every second.
Who To Bring
Many brides stress about who they’re going to bring along to their appointment and what their guests will think about the wedding dresses that they try on. It can actually be quite intimidating stepping out in a dress for everyone to cast their opinions, after all. Jill, our dedicated bridal stylist at JJB, will be able to guide you through a swoon-worthy selection of dresses that will look incredible on your figure. You don’t need to bring loads of friends and family to your bridal appointment and if you do, it will quickly become very stressful very quickly. You will end up being bombarded with comments, opinions and ideas, which is enough to make any bride panic! Some brides also feel the pressure of picking something that someone else likes but remember it’s about you and what you want to wear on your wedding day! Think carefully about who you ask to accompany you dress shopping and make sure they’re happy to let you be you. We’d say to bring no more than three people, ideally two, and to always remember that it’s your wedding day and your decision.
Love Yourself
Be kind to yourself, especially when shopping for your wedding dress. We can quickly become our own worst critics and want to change something about our appearance for the wedding day, but don’t get caught up in a world of Instagram filters, Pinterest boards and too many opinions. Our ultimate advice? Worry less and love yourself more!
Wedding dress shopping can be a little daunting but also a chance to have some serious fun! It should be full of amazing memories that you will look back on and smile for years to come, now you’re feeling confident and ready to experience Jill Jones Bridal.
